【南京理工大学】Faculty and Students from Our University Shine at Light Conference 202454
The Light Conference 2024 was recently held in Changchun, Jilin. This event, jointly organized by the UNESCO International Day of Light Committee, the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Optical Society, the IEEE Photonics Society, and China Science Daily, with co-hosting by the Light Publishing Group, ScienceNet, and the iCANX Association, spotlighted cutting-edge topics in international optics and optical engineering. It also emphasized national strategic innovation and the latest trends in the optoelectronics industry. During the opening ceremony, several prestigious awards were presented, including the 2023 Wang Daheng Optical Award, the 2023 China Top Ten Optical Social Influence Events (Light10), and the Light 2023 Excellent Editor, Reviewer, and Paper Awards. Bowen Wang, a student from the School of Electronic and Optical Engineering (EOE), received the 2023 Wang Daheng Optical Award. The team led by Professors Qian Chen and Chao Zuo from EOE also brought home the Light Excellent Paper Award and the Light10 Award. In addition, the conference featured the 2024 National Finals of the Optical and Optical Engineering Doctoral Students Academic League, which attracted top doctoral students in optics and optical engineering and related interdisciplinary fields nationwide. After rigorous selection and an online points competition, 20 finalists competed in the national finals. Sheng Li and Yefeng Shu from EOE were honored with the Excellent Award. The Shandong-Jiangsu-Anhui Division of the 2024 Optical and Optical Engineering Doctoral Students Academic League, hosted by our university, started in January. Following five months of diligent preparation, five contestants from this division advanced to the national finals and performed exceptionally well. Junyi Zhao from the University of Science and Technology of China won the Excellence Award, Wenyu Du from Anhui University received the Outstanding Award, and Jitao Ji from Nanjing University was also honored with the Excellent Award. Professor Chao Zuo, the division organizer, received the Excellent Division Organization Award and delivered a speech, highlighting the division’s commitment to academic exchange and talent cultivation.
The conference also included various sessions and events, such as an academic league, special sessions, and award ceremonies. Haitao Guan, an EOE student, won the Excellent Poster Award in one of the special sessions. Overall, the EOE faculty and students garnered seven honors at the conference, showcasing their research achievements and expanding their academic horizons. This event facilitated valuable exchanges with top experts and scholars, fostering innovation and talent development. Moving forward, our university aims to enhance interdisciplinary research, strengthen collaborations with leading universities and industries, and promote advancements in the field of optics.
